Indesign Awards 2016 - Silver - Residential
This home is architecturally designed to respond directly to the climate of south Louisiana by using a structural insulated panel system (SIPS), which provides closed cell foam in all exterior walls and roof panels with minimal thermal bridging. This SIPS design reduces energy consumption and provides a wind storm resistant shell above and beyond conventional construction to respond effectively to our periodic hurricanes.

The Ragdale Rock
The original Ragdale Ring by Howard Van Doren Shaw influenced our design, the Ragdale Rock. The original Ragdale Ring featured a design that was shaped by the surrounding landscape and was organized around two axes. It had an axis for the stage perspective and for the procession. Not only does our design respond to the landscaping, it is also formed around two axes. One axis draws in the crowd from the nearby road and the other axis brings them to the auditorium. The point at which the axes meet define where the threshold for the auditorium begins.
